NHS Brent aims to tackle inequalities in services for black and minority ethnic communities, as an integral part of improving mental health services.
NHS Brent invites expressions of interest to recruit four Community Development Workers to support, enable and facilitate effective and appropriate provision for black and minority ethnic communities in Brent. Through this, NHS Brent will:
| • |
Improve the primary/secondary care interface in particular linked to the development to increase access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), addressing a number of policy areas such as the personalisation agenda, return to work, to facilitate skilful navigation through services |
| |
| • |
Support capacity building within the voluntary sector to facilitate the improvement and increased support to BME communities |
| |
| • |
Identify and support hard to reach groups, women and their carers to access appropriate services |
| |
| • |
Support service users from black and minority ethnic communities using mental health services |
Brent is a highly ethnically diverse borough and is the most ethnically heterogeneous borough in the country. Black and minority ethnic groups (BME) in Brent now make up the majority of the population.
Providers will need to have substantial experience of providing services to diverse and hard to reach communities. NHS Brent in particular encourages a consortia of existing or new voluntary sector providers in Brent to tender for this project in a partnership arrangement.
It is intended that that a contract for the new service will awarded from May 2010. Further information will be provided with tender documents after assessment of Pre-Qualifying Questionnaires which can be obtained from Sarah Nyandoro - Head of Strategy and Joint Commissioning at Sarah.Nyandoro@brentpct.nhs.uk.
Deadline for receipt of PQQs will be close of play Monday 22 March 2010.
