Disabled Children’s Project Group’s (DCPG)
A specific project group has been established with the remit of producing an options analysis for integrating services for disabled children, young people and their families in response to Every Child Matters, the National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services and fundamentally a report published by the Audit Commission which highlights what disabled children, young people and their families want from services.
Membership of this group is broad with representation from statutory and non statutory services concerned with providing care to this group of children and young people. The project is anticipated to take place over the next 12 – 18 months resulting in options that support integrated service delivery for consideration by the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership Board.
One of the key aspects of this process is that it will aid commissioners and providers to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the numbers of local disabled children and their families, their age ranges, ethnicity and the type of complexity of their needs in order to enable effective planning, delivery and use of resources.
Consultation with service users, parents and carers will influence the options that are put forward to the Partnership Board. We therefore hope that you will take the time to read the project initiation document, which outlines the process and the project plan which provides the timescales we are working to.
