Carers

  • can ask and should be offered an assessment if the person they care for is someone who receives or is eligible to receive community care services
  • have the legal right to an assessment even if the person they care for refuses services
  • have the right to refuse an assessment
  • Benefits of having an assessment

The purpose of having an assessment is to:

    •  determine if the person you care for is eligible for community care services
provides an opportunity to listen to you
offer the help you need to  carry on caring
