Aiming High for Disabled Children Strategy
This strategy sets out the local commitments to increasing access to short breaks provision for disabled children and young people and families. The purpose of the strategy is to improve the outcomes for disabled children by ensuring that the right support is available at the times wanted by carers and children.
This year Brent is resourcing the development of specialist training to provide support to parents and carers in managing challenging behaviour, thereby enabling children and families to successfully remain in their home environments.
Through the strategy there will be an increase in the delivery of training and support to enable family and carer access to additional training and support. This training underpins the confidence and skills of parents and carers in meeting the (health) support needs for children and young people in their own homes.
Parents and carers will have access to additional training delivered through the Community Children Nursing team to improve outcomes for disabled children and young people and thos with complex health) needs.
